Lighting the Way: True Tesla Technologies Unveils Hedera-Powered Energy Solution in Mauritius

At True Tesla Technologies (Mauritius) Limited, our vision is clear: to power a sustainable future for Mauritius and beyond. We are tackling critical challenges like energy instability, reliance on imported fossil fuels, and environmental degradation head-on. Today, we’re thrilled to announce a significant leap forward in this mission: the successful development and deployment of our Proof of Concept (POC) on the Hedera Testnet.

Our Innovative Approach to Sustainable Energy

Our project combines a unique, patented “Tesla’s Cascading Hydro Power Plant” with solar energy to provide clean, reliable, and affordable power. This innovation was spearheaded by Tomislav Tesla, the great-great nephew of Nikola Tesla. The hydro plant efficiently captures energy from river flows, complemented by smart sediment recovery technology that restores river health and ensures long-term infrastructure efficiency. Additionally, our system incorporates solar panels, battery storage for 24/7 energy, and a containerized water filtration system capable of providing enough water for up to 3,000 people per day.

Our pilot plant in Tamarin is already 90% complete, backed by €1.1M in private investment, and holds a signed Energy Supply Agreement with the state utility board. This project is being developed under a government-endorsed innovation scheme. We aim to scale this technology across Mauritius and Africa, establishing Innovation Hubs to train local talent and create a fully decentralized, transparent, and efficient energy grid.

  • Unmatched Sustainability: Hedera’s near-zero carbon footprint is in perfect alignment with our core environmental mission. Its proof-of-stake network uses incredibly low energy, allowing us to build a transparent system without compromising our environmental principles.
  • Performance and Low, Fixed Costs: Our system will generate thousands of micro-transactions daily, from real-time energy production data to peer-to-peer energy trades. Hedera’s high throughput (10,000+ TPS) and predictable, low-cost transaction model make it uniquely suited for this high-volume, real-world application.
  • The Ideal Services for Our Use Case: We are leveraging Hedera’s full suite of network services:
    • Hedera Consensus Service (HCS): To create an immutable, publicly verifiable log of all energy generation data, environmental monitoring metrics (e.g., water quality, sediment levels), and carbon credit lifecycle events. This provides unparalleled transparency for all stakeholders.
    • Hedera Token Service (HTS): To tokenize our Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and Carbon Credits , enabling secure, compliant creation, management, and trading of these green assets. HTS will also facilitate direct peer-to-peer energy trading within communities.
    • Hedera Decentralized Identity (DIDs): To establish trusted digital identities for energy producers, consumers, and even physical devices (IoT sensors), ensuring secure and authorized interactions across the grid.
  • Trust and Governance: Hedera’s robust governance model, overseen by a council of world-leading organizations, provides the stability and credibility required for a national infrastructure project that has received government endorsement.

Our Proven Technical Feasibility: The Hedera POC

To validate our approach and demonstrate our team’s capability, we proactively developed and deployed a successful POC on the Hedera Testnet. This demonstrates our team’s hands-on expertise with the Hedera SDK and confirms our ability to deliver the proposed solution.

The POC successfully demonstrated key capabilities:

  • HCS Integration: We successfully created HCS topics and submitted messages, simulating the real-time logging of energy production data from our power plants.
  • HTS Integration: Our POC includes scripts for creating, minting, and transferring fungible tokens, proving our ability to tokenize and manage Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and Carbon Credits.
  • Account and Token Management: The POC showcases the core functionalities of account creation, token association, and balance inquiries, which are essential for building a peer-to-peer energy trading platform.

This successful development significantly de-risks the project’s technical execution, allowing us to move directly into building the full-scale application upon receiving funding.

Impact on the Hedera Ecosystem and Beyond

This project is poised to serve as a flagship, real-world use case for Hedera, extending its power beyond traditional DeFi and NFTs. We will provide a powerful example of Regenerative Finance (ReFi), measurably impacting communities and the environment. By integrating with a national utility provider and operating under a government-endorsed scheme, we aim to drive mainstream and enterprise adoption of Hedera by bringing new, non-crypto-native users and institutions into the ecosystem. We will also deliver a live, public dashboard showing on-chain data, offering a transparent, real-time view of clean energy generation and its environmental impact—all verifiably recorded on Hedera.
